Past Continuous Tense with Examples and Urdu Translation

Positive: Subject + was/were + verb-ing
Negative: Subject + was/were + not + verb-ing
Question: Was/Were + Subject + verb-ing?

1. Get (getting ready) 1

Positive: I was getting ready.
Urdu: میں تیار ہو رہا تھا۔

Negative: I was not getting ready.
Urdu: میں تیار نہیں ہو رہا تھا۔

Question: Was I getting ready?
Urdu: کیا میں تیار ہو رہا تھا؟

2. Go (going home) 1

Positive: She was going home.
Urdu: وہ گھر جا رہی تھی۔

Negative: She was not going home.
Urdu: وہ گھر نہیں جا رہی تھی۔

Question: Was she going home?
Urdu: کیا وہ گھر جا رہی تھی؟

3. Come (coming tomorrow → coming that day) 1

Positive: They were coming that day.
Urdu: وہ اس دن آ رہے تھے۔

Negative: They were not coming that day.
Urdu: وہ اس دن نہیں آ رہے تھے۔

Question: Were they coming that day?
Urdu: کیا وہ اس دن آ رہے تھے؟

4. Take (taking a class) 1

Positive: He was taking a class.
Urdu: وہ کلاس لے رہا تھا۔

Negative: He was not taking a class.
Urdu: وہ کلاس نہیں لے رہا تھا۔
